Mentor

Think
back to when you were a kid. Who was the person, other than a parent,
who brightened your day, just by being there? By becoming a TOVA mentor,
you can be that person in the life of a child, through a relationship
that will change your life, and a child's forever.
Being
a Mentor is something anyone can do, the only requirements are a willingness
to be a friend, to have fun, to be consistent and to see the world (and
yourself) through the eyes of a young person.
As
a Mentor, you and your Mentee will do everyday activities like playing
sports, cooking, going over schoolwork, washing the car, taking a walk,
volunteering in their community, or just hanging out. And as in any
friendship, it is the spontaneous, small moments of shared fun or discovery
that you will remember forever. That is the magic a Mentor brings to
the life of a child-and that a Mentee brings to the life of a Mentor.
A
Mentor can open a world of possibilities and opportunities for a young
person simply by being a genuine friend. Our Mentors consistently say
that they get even more out of their friendship than the Mentees, and
our Mentees grow into adults who want to be involved themselves and
help another child.
