Do
you remember a person from your childhood who you looked up to? Someone
other than your parents, someone who you respected but who didn’t
act like an authority figure?
All
Children and teens need additional supportive adults in their lives.
TOVA mentors provide
friendship and guidance without criticizing or judging.
Mentors
provide one-on-one time and attention once or twice a week during
the school day to children in grades 1 through 12. Mentors do simple
things like playing sports, going over schoolwork, taking walks or
just simply spending time together. It’s the relationship that
develops while doing these activities that makes the difference. TOVA
works closely with parents and schools to match them with the right
mentor. Each mentor is screened trained and supervised to assure that
the mentoring experience is safe and beneficial for the child.
